Best Vacation Destinations For Fitness Fanatics

By Vanessa Gillis

As the leaves start to fall and everything turns a lovely shade of orange, it can be hard to imagine that winter is right around the corner. Before you know it, the sidewalks will be coated with slush and ice, the snow-covered roads will make your once-bearable commute to work treacherous, and you’ll want nothing more than to be as far away from this dreary season as possible. If that’s the case, you may want to hit up one of these fit destinations to escape the grey skies and winter blues while still keeping up with your training routines.

The Carneros Inn
Napa, California
What better place to relax and rejuvenate yourself than a winery? Although this resort offers many of the amenities you’d expect from a spa in wine country, such as access to some of the country’s best wineries and high-class dining, this little slice of paradise also has a 3,000-square-foot fitness centre complete with cardio, Pilates, and strength-training equipment, in addition to bocce ball courts and two large swimming pools. There are also hiking trails, golf courses, and bike tours within a short distance of the inn if you’re interested in doing something a little different.

Lake Austin Spa Resort
Austin, Texas
Located on a 19-acre property along the Colorado River, this sprawling resort offers various programs to suit any need. If you’re looking to get wet and wild, try their Quench! Water Program where you’ll get to enjoy classes such as “Stand Up and Paddle” or “Aqua Hasta La Vista Belly”. If you want to wind down, however, go for the “Breathe: Meditation Program” where you’ll get to enjoy yoga classes and relish the serene beauty of the resort. Whatever your interests may be, this getaway has more fitness classes and activities than you’ll know what to do with.

Hotel La Jolla
La Jolla, California
Unlike many other hotels and resorts, La Jolla gladly welcomes pets, so you can bring your best friend along with you as you enjoy the beautiful hiking trails and local parks, or try your hand at kayaking together in the Pacific. Your furry friend will also get to enjoy some amazing pet-friendly amenities, such as complimentary food, water bowls, and dog beds. This hotel also has an extensive fitness centre with stationary bikes, treadmills, balance balls, free weights, and even hula-hoops for the young at heart.
