How many women do you know who can honestly say that they love climbing the Stairmaster for 45 minutes? The truth is that most people need some sort of distraction to make their workouts more enjoyable. According to sports psychologist Costa Karageorghis of Brunel University, listening to music while working out is not only motivating, but it also increases your efficiency during exercise. In a recent survey by the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport, and Dance, the most popular types of music listened to during exercise were hip hop, rock, pop, and country. Now you have another good reason to blast Beyonce next time you hit the elliptical (as if you needed one)!
