Summer Shakes

Need a boost of energy in this summer heat? You can never go wrong with a smoothie!

Do your taste buds a favour and stock up on fruits, spices, and protein powders. When you have the ingredients on hand it’s easy to whip up a morning drink or mid-day revive. Here are a few recipes to get you started.

DIRECTIONS FOR EACH SMOOTHIE

Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse for 30 to 40 seconds, or until smooth.

Very Berry

1 scoop strawberry protein powder
¼ cup frozen mixed berries
¼ cup fat-free plain yogurt
1 tsp honey or agave (optional)
1 tsp turmeric
½ grapefruit juice
½ water
5 ice cubes

 

Green Clean

(Serves one)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 kiwis, peeled and halved
1 cup baby spinach
3 mint leaves
½ cup Greek yogurt
1 tbsp flax seed
½ cup water
½ cup apple juice
5 ice cubes
