Think you’ve got what it takes to make it in the fitness industry? Here’s a look at four women who have undergone fitness transformations to become rising stars on the scene.
“My story is like so many – active as a child and teenager, lost and confused as a young adult. A competitive dancer for many years, I didn’t think of how fitness affected me physically until I no longer danced and saw my body changing in a way I did not like.”
Turning Point: “After years of looking through fitness magazines such as Inside Fitness, wishing I could look like many of the fitness models featured, I stopped wishing and started working. Since then, my life has forever changed for the better.
I needed a goal, so I decided to try competing. While I have no plans to do a competition again this year, I am currently training for the hardest challenge of all – life! I would like to try something new such as a Tough Mudder race or aerial yoga. No matter what the future holds, it will be full of activities.”
Fitness Philosophy: There is a quote by Arnold Schwarzenegger that is one of my favourites: “For me, life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.” This is how I live my life. I am driven to be my best self, and to live the best life possible.
Favourite exercise: Sumo deadlifts. Not only are these great for your booty, but your whole body too.
Advice: Fitness is a lifelong commitment. Don’t work out to fit into that little black dress on your birthday, do it to be able to chase your grandkids around when you are old and grey.
